Miss Ella

Ella Murray is a junior studying Vocal Music Education major at Arkansas State. She joined choir in the 7th grade, and has wanted to teach music ever since then. In her time in high school, she attended 4 All-Region conferences and 4 All-State conferences, where she was able to work with some of the most talented choral directors in the United States. She is the current Treasurer for Sigma Alpha Iota, a music fraternity that advocates for American composers, and provides services and specialized music for disabled musicians. In her time at Arkansas State, she has been a part of the Concert Choir and Scarlet Voices, and has toured with Astate Choirs through Arkansas and Mississippi. This past spring, she had a leading role in Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas with the Astate Opera Theater. Ella has studied the piano as a secondary instrument, and will serve as a collaborative pianist to some instrumentalists this semester. Ella serves as the music director for the St. John Newman University Parish. She plans on attending Astate for her Masters degrees in Choral Conducting and Vocal Performance. When she graduates, Ella wants to begin working as a choral director/private vocal instructor at the collegiate level. Ella is excited to work with students, both younger and older, and create an environment where music becomes a part of the brain’s curriculum, and helps a student growth emotionally and cognitively. She is very happy to be a part of the team at Jonesboro Music!
