Mr. Nate

Nathaniel McDonald is a current Senior at A-State studying Voice Performance. He has dreamed of teaching voice since he first joined his church choir at the age of 9 and has been inspired along the way by a number of excellent educators, mentors, and peers. He has experience in both Theater and Opera, taking lead roles in shows like Once Upon a Mattress, The Addams Family (musical), and most recently Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas with the A-State Opera Theater. Outside of these roles, he has been involved in theatrical and stage productions as a chorus member and stage crew. Nate is the president of A-State’s chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, a national organization for men with a special interest in music, focused on bringing a healthy spirit of collectiveness to musicians in America. He sings in A-State’s Concert Choir and Singing Statesmen, serving as a leadership council member for the choirs there, and also in the choir at FUMC Jonesboro. As a secondary instrument, Nate has been studying Cello since the 7th grade and is proudly continuing to learn in that field from his fiancée, Madison Stroth, who is finishing her degree in Strings from Belmont School of Music. Nate eventually plans to get his Master’s Degree in Vocal Pedagogy but is extremely excited to have this opportunity to foster musical and emotional growth in his students along his path toward building a life in music.
